Brennan Heath gave Croydon Amphibians a fine start to the Division Four programme at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, scoring seven times in each of two victories over NWPL newcomers Weymouth & Portland and then Ealing.
The team from Dorset were beaten 16-9 while Ealing struggled to overcome the loss of four players on three exclusions and went down 16-7.
The only other team to claim two wins during the weekend were University of Bristol. David Evans scored five in a 14-10 defeat of Newcastle. Then, a Fergus Allerton goal in the last period clinched an 8-7 victory over City of Cambridge, the Bristol side holding their opponents to a goal apiece while playing a man short resulting from a brutality offence in the second period.
Gregory and Ludford both scored four in Cambridge’s 18-9 victory over Basingstoke.
Division Four clubs return to Ponds Forge for their next games on 29/30 September.
