Warley and Caledonia will clash in a fixture that could decide the title during the final Division Three weekend of the season at Crawley on 17/18 November.

Both dropped a point in matches against Otter 1869 in the latest weekend of competition at Walsall Gala Baths.

However, the championship is still wide open. While leaders Warley have a two-point advantage over Caledonia, Invicta Marlins – who won their three matches at Walsall – have joined the Scots on 17 points.

South Derbyshire are still in the mix as well, with 16 points. With Invicta due to face Warley, Caledonia and South Derbyshire at Crawley and South Derbyshire also playing Caledonia and Warley, there could hardly be a better finale!

Warley will be annoyed they failed to secure both points against Otter. They held a 3-0 advantage in the first quarter but soon allowed the Londoners to recover to 3-3. Otter took the lead for the first time at 7-6 in the last quarter thanks to two goals from Ollie Holman, only for Ed Smart to hit Warley’s equaliser with less than two minutes remaining.

Otter also proved resilient against Caledonia, clawing their way back after conceding a 4-0 lead in the early stages. With David Stewart scoring four, Caledonia were still comfortable at 9-5 after three periods. But four-goal French skipper Yannick Gaudio kept Otter hopes alive and the game was all square at 10-10 with three minutes left. Three time-outs failed to produce a further goal.

Warley beat Reading 16-8 and then Newton Abbot in a remarkable match that ended 24-22. Goal scorers included Adam Whitehall with seven for Warley and Andy Margetts, seven for the Devonians.

Caledonia beat bottom club Bedford 24-8 – eight goals for Callum Fraser – and Reading 20-5.

South Derbyshire bagged a grand haul of 74 in their three wins – against Reading (17-8), Newton Abbot (26-12) and Bedford (31-7).
