SOLIHULL SET TO CHALLENGE

Solihull made certain of runners-up spot in Division Two for a second consecutive season with comprehensive victories over Birkenhead (16-8) and Leeds (20-4) at Loughborough University.

Coach Bob Jeys confirmed afterwards that Solihull would be challenging the ninth-placed club in Division One to an end-of-season promotion play-off, again at Loughborough, on 8/9 or 15/16 December.

Champions Invicta finished in style, beating Leeds 19-4 – including four goals by Sean King – and Birkenhead 14-7.Leeds finished bottom of the league and will drop to Division Three.

Caledonia, runners-up in Division Three, have indicated they will not take part in the play-offs. So seventh-placed Hucknall seem likely to retain their Division Two slot next season. 

In the closest game on Saturday, Hucknall edged out Sheffield, winning 7-6. The winning goal was scored by Adam Ellis in the last second of the match.
