Cheltenham retain top spot after the latest Division One weekend at Bath University, but, whether it’s the struggle for the title or the scramble to avoid relegation, there is still much to play for.

For Lancaster, currently two points adrift of Cheltenham, a vital blow was struck when they defeated their nearest rivals 16-10. Lancaster’s fast start – they were 4-0 up during the first period – ensured success, with Tom Curwen and Scott Carpenter eventually finishing with five and three goals respectively. It was little consolation for Cheltenham that they won the final period 5-1.
Cheltenham also trailed 4-1 early on to Rotherham, but were 5-4 ahead at the end of the first period and eventually were comfortable winners, 18-11.
Bristol maintained their interest in the title battle by defeating Manchester 14-10. Manchester pulled up to 7-7 at one stage in the third period, but then Bristol hit five without response to make sure of victory.
Adam Scholefield scored six for Rotherham, who beat Manchester 16-6.
The lower half of the table is a lot more competitive this year. Charlie Hinder and Dan Laxton both scored four in Welsh Wanderers’ 16-4 defeat of Polytechnic. However, Wanderers came unstuck against Penguin, who won 9-8. Penguin began the last quarter with a 9-6 advantage, but goals by Andy Holt and Chris Taylor revived Wanderers to make it tight at the end.
Montfort and Bruce Elder both scored four in Penguin’s 12-9 defeat of Otter. But Otter still have hopes of avoiding the drop after beating Portobello 13-10. With Fraser Rutherford on target five times, Portobello were only 9-8 adrift at the start of the last quarter. Then goals in the space of two minutes by Venter (2) and Ainley settled it.
Poly’s prospects at the foot of the table also improved with a 12-8 defeat of Portobello.
GB Juniors went down 13-9 to Bristol and 16-7 to Lancaster.
