NATIONAL LEAGUE HONOURS LONG-SERVING TRIO

The National League has honoured three of its most dedicated officials with the award of Life Membership.

The awards were announced by chairman Steve Monico at the annual meeting in Hockley Heath to :-

·        Stephen Baker: The ex-Penguin and Everton player served the National League as assistant secretary, secretary and then chairman, dealing with a number of difficult issues at the time. Until recently, Steve was the highly respected manager of the England side for 11 years

·        Howard Cartwright: After an outstanding record as a player with Birkenhead, Parogon and GB, Howard became general secretary and then chairman of the National League. He is still involved with management of the GB junior squad

·        Mike Clark: Mike is currently chalking up his 25th year at National League treasurer. As a player in 1966, he set what was then an individual scoring record for the League of ten goals in a match – and he’s still playing and refereeing in local leagues on a regular basis!

The annual meeting elected Jim Dalley, of the Midlands, as successor to Chris Freebury as referees’ co-ordinator. The new competition co-ordinator is Mark Vincenti, of British Armed Forces.
